The Ministry of Culture continues in 2009 with the development of the Geographic Information System (GIS). The objective is to set up the information system in order to manage protected areas of national parks, nature parks and areas managed by county public institutions, on the basis of accurate and updated data. GIS set-up enables accurate overview of topographic, cadastral, land registry, spatial plans and monitoring of nature conditions along spatial determination of spreading of types and habitats. The system provides the analysis of the use of protected areas, such as tourist intensity, with the aim to achieve protection and sustainable use of protected areas.

 

The Ministry will also continue in 2009 with the development of new services on the portal culturnet.hr and will continuously invest into the informatisation of cultural institutions.

 

In 2009, within the implementation of the National programme for the digitalisation of archives, libraries and museums structure, it is also desirable to incite and assist systematic and equal access to digitalisation of structures in cultural institution, form and offer of cultural facilities and services by use of digital copies. The portal Croatian cultural heritage represents the central network place enabling access and search of created digital collections.

 

 

The project "Croatian cultural heritage" is a national project of digitalisation of archives, library and museum structure. It goal is to initiate creation of new digital structure, improve its availability and visibility and to encourage systematic and equal access to digitalisation of structure in cultural institutions.
