e-Croatia Programme is a group of activities and projects implemented within state government bodies and coordinated by the Central State Administrative Office for e-Croatia. The task is to raise awareness and need for informatisation of both state government and society as a whole. e-Croatia Programme was worked out in 2003 and was defined as one of the priorities of the Croatian Government during its term of office from 2003 to 2007. During its new term of office, the Government of the Republic of Croatia highly prioritised this programme, determining thereby the continuation of its implementation within Chapter 22, Information society within the Programme of the Croatian Government for the period 2009-2011. The goals may be summarised into the need to create condition for the Croatian society to transform itself into the information society by undertaking a coordinated, comprehensive and dynamic action, in order for the Croatian citizens and companies to have the widest and highest quality use and exchange of information thereby creating space for active participation in global trends. The results of e-Croatia Programme, including 2008 results, evidence of improvement in efficiency and transparency in use of information and communication technology in all aspects of life, from administration and education to legislation and healthcare. In short words, a transparent and stable basic regulatory framework, reliable and efficient information systems and sector services, Central portal My government, safety network for data exchange HITRONet have been established, availability of electronic government service has increased from 3 to 60 percent, grants fro the State Budget for informatisation have tripled, etc. Therefore, thanks to the successful implementation of e-Croatia Programme, we are able to claim to have laid foundations which guarantee equal development of the information society in the Republic of Croatia. On annual level, plans of state government bodies have been summarised into their implementation plans which have been consolidated in a single document – e-Croatia Programme implementation plan - by the Central State Administrative Office for e-Croatia and proposed to the Croatian Government for adoption.
