The ICT application level in adjustment and transformation of public government system has reached the point when, ,aligned actions of all interested parties in the building of the unique public government system is required to achieve objectives set by the Government programme, by EU accession conditions, adopted strategic development programmes and so on. Principles of such approach are defined by strategic documents, whose systematically comprehensive realisation has been initiated by the Croatian Government through programmes and strategies implemented by the Central State Administrative Office for e-Croatia.
In 2007, the Croatian Government initiated My Government portal with the aim to build and maintain the system which will provide complete, reliable and applicable information and services to citizens, entrepreneurs and other users of public government services by using all appropriate manners of communication. In this manner will the Croatian Government secure availability of public government services to all users, regardless of their capabilities, knowledge and possible limitations.
My Government portal is an Internet system for communication between citizens and companies with the government. For the first time, in one place, by simple method, will all information necessary for communication with public government bodies be available. The portal has been developed by applying experience in the areas of successful countries such as Great Britain, Singapore, Hong Kong, and others.
All public government bodies and best experts participate in the preparation of content for My Government portal, with common goal to modernise their manner of business operations as well as to prepare and check all the content on topics under their competence. Contents are organised according to topics, and suggestions on which content is to be published in this phase, are checked with citizens by means of numerous market researches. Contents are represented on the portal in simple and comprehensive manner, and the key factor for their further development will be the cooperation with citizens invited to sent their proposal and in that way to participate in their further development.
The current status of My Government is only the first step in the building of unified synergy platform for integration of the overall Croatian public government system. The speed and successfulness of its further development directly depends on the speed and quality of inclusion of public government bodies and active participation in defining and aligning of actions with strategic guidelines and standards, and coordination activities.
